Responding to Substance Use and Abuse in the Workplace

Drug Identification and Awareness for Employers

  1. The training seminar will provide a cursory overview of a the most commonly encountered illegal street drugs and terminology associated with their use;
  2. Some observable symptoms associated with their use and abuse,
  3. Methods and paraphernalia associated with their use and abuse; and
  4. The duty of care associated with investigating substance use and abuse in the workplace.
  5. A separate segment – “dealing with hostile individuals in the workplace”.

 

LEARNING OUTCOMES

The participants will be able to:

  1. Recognize and discuss most commonly encountered street drugs;
  2. Recognize commonly used street language (slang) to describe illegal substances;
  3. Recognize and discuss some of the symptoms associated with certain drug use and abuse;
  4. Recognize and discuss methods of use and abuse and associated paraphernalia; and
  5. Recognize the duty of care associated with investigating substance use and abuse in the workplace.
